Banana Split Cake

Bev

Uncle Jim's brother's ex-wife told me how to make an easy banana split cake. It was Aunt Cindy’s birthday and she had a new boyfriend over I was trying to impress. Easy, just make two rounds of regular chocolate cake. You don't frost the cakes, you just put cherry preserves, then you put banana slices and cool whip in between and then you do the same thing again on the top layer. Add cherries on top with stems on them to decorate it. Everything was working out just fine, except I hadn't taken the Coolwhip out of the freezer, so it was a brick. So Aunt Dina was over and told me to put it in the microwave, which worked and I could get the Coolwhip out. But then it was loose, too loose. And when I put the cherries on top they sunk in, but still figured it was ok. When I was carrying it into the living room, the Coolwhip was so slippery that the top was slipping off so I saved it from falling on the floor but the top plopped off and onto the table.  Not too impressive.

Gramma texted me this picture of her with Aunt Cindy that she said she had nearby. She assures me it’s blurry in real life too, not just in the text.
