Spaghetti on Fire

Bev

Another time, we were in cooking class, and we were making spaghetti and tomato sauce. It was during wartime, so meat was rationed. So, we made our tomato sauce. And as the teacher was distributing our portions of spaghetti she told us about how restaurants will lay long noodles across the top of the boiling pot of water and then they would droop in without breaking. So that’s what Sharon and I did. We laid the long noodles across the top of our small little pot, and turned the gas stove up. Our noodles caught on fire. We had to shove them down into the pot to put the fire out. Like I said, I didn’t get an A in cooking class.

This is me with my cooking partner and best friend, Sharon. We both were good for each other because we loved being silly.
